What is the Rumpelstiltskin tiptoe dance?
The viral AI clip explained: the Instagram origin, the Riff Raff song, and why everyone thought it was a 1987 movie.
The Rumpelstiltskin tiptoe dance is an AI-generated clip of the fairy-tale imp dancing for a woman in a barn, rendered like a 1980s fantasy film: he tiptoes, spins straw into gold, and a kiss turns him into a prince. Most edits pair it with Riff Raff's 2016 track "TiP TOE WiNG iN MY JAWWDINZ" — "tiptoeing in my Jordans" — which gave the meme its second name. Know Your Meme confirmed it in October 2026 as an AI-generated, exploitable format.
Where it actually came from
On August 27, 2026, the Instagram pages Stroinaya, Neuroferma, and Anna Glinskaya co-posted the original AI video. It sat quiet for a month until September 29, 2026, when TikToker @6aimbot9 paired it with the caption "The type of dreams I be having after taking dollar store melatonin" and the Riff Raff audio — over 850,000 views in a week. In early October it exploded on X and TikTok: one repost of the dancing clip drew 9.8 million views in five days, and creators began swapping the imp for streamer Asmongold, Supernatural's Sam and Dean, Deadpool, and more.
It is not from a real movie
The footage looks like a 1980s dark fairy-tale film — candlelight, grain, costumes — so viewers genuinely argued about its source. Some believed it was an old Russian film; others, the 1987 Cannon Movie Tales version of Rumpelstiltskin; one viral post joked that David Lynch based the Twin Peaks dancing dwarf on it. None of that is true: it is confirmed AI-generated. Rumpelstiltskin himself, though, is a Brothers Grimm character in the public domain.
How to join the trend
You no longer need a video editor: upload two photos — one dancer, one spectator — pick a scene, and generate your own 15-second version. Videos from this site ship with an original soundalike track; add the original audio inside TikTok or CapCut if you have the right to use it.
